I will never forget the night you were born. It was pretty comical to say the least. After a family holiday dinner with everyone drinking but me, my water broke, and I had to drive myself to the hospital because I was the only ‘sober’ one LOL! Upon our arrival at 9:30 pm, even the nurses were laughing that I drove myself! They admitted me and we had to wait because I had just eaten dinner and they couldn’t give me the drugs to take you out. You were already scheduled for a C-section in January but you had other plans. So I had to wait…. and wait….. and wait…. The nurses gave me a sleeping pill so I could sleep until the doctor could give me drugs and take you out. I asked the nurse, “If I fall asleep will the labor pains wake me up?” Her answer… “Oh yes, they certainly will!” You see I never made it to the ‘lesson’ in our birthing classes about breathing through labor pains so I had no idea. I remember falling asleep as soon as Saturday Night Live started and then woke up in excruciating pain around 1:30 am. OMG!! This pain is for realz!!! I didn’t experience it with Riley because he was a C-section so I literally had no idea what it felt like. After driving the nurses crazy as I was trying to get out of bed and screaming my head off, the doctor called. I literally screamed at him to get here now and take you out. He laughed and said he was on his way. The nurses started the epidural, the doctor arrived and you were born at 3:52 am on December 30th.
