I feel so FREE!

Happy Tuesday Friends!  I hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving! I took a break from the blog last week to spend time with the family for the holiday.  We spent most of the week at the lake house with friends and family.  Of course there is always ‘something’ to be done at the lake and that task was leaves.  I love Fall, however, I am not a fan of November due to all the leaves that need to be taken care of.  Yes, I can hire someone but honestly even though it is a large task I enjoy the exercise of yard work and the kids helped me bag up all these leaves for phase 1 at home. Now the backyard is another task and one I will get too soon.   Karl and I worked together at the lake house by breaking them up with the John Deere tractor and then blowing them into the woods.

This time of year is always crazy town.  I am that girl that starts putting up the Christmas décor about a week after Halloween.  Don’t judge, but I just want to get it done to move on to the other million things that need to be done.  If your like me, you have a to-do list a mile long with all the annual holiday traditions to do with the family like seeing Christmas lights, baking all the cookies, shopping for the perfect gift,  teacher gifts, planning kids holiday parties at school, wrapping everything etc.  and  every year I feel that if we don’t do them all we have missed out.  This year I decided I/we need to slow down and take a few things off the list because at the end of the day it just doesn’t matter, right?  One of those things I am letting go of is I AM NOT DOING HOLIDAY CARDS….  I will say it again…  I AM NOT DOING HOLIDAY CARDS.  I love family photos and sending them out to family and friends to wish them the best holiday and a healthy New Year, but this year I decided to take it off my list of things to do and let me tell you,  it is so FREEING!!!   Instead, that money I would have spent to create the card, buy stamps and mail them out is going to be donated today for #givingtuesday.  I will be donating 1/2 to the CdLS foundation and the other 1/2 is going to FOCUS + Fragile kids here in Atlanta.  You all know my heart is so appreciative of the CdLS Foundation: CdLS and the great work that they do but FOCUS is an amazing organization too.  They help kids who are medically fragile or have significant developmental or physical disabilities. They have support groups for parents and provide fun activities for parents and their kiddos. They also help parents who are in need of medical equipment for their children.  For more information about FOCUS + Fragile Kids click here: FOCUS

I know you are going to miss the Rissland holiday card, I am kidding as you probably won’t even notice, but I am sharing some of our cards and pictures taken for cards over the years.  They are in no particular order.  Some are before the twins,  Some the picture quality is not good and make sure to scroll down for some out-takes from our photo shoot last year. These are just some of the ones I have found on my computer.  #circa2008-2018

I encourage you to donate to a charity of your choosing on this #givingtuesday.  Even $5 can make a world of difference in someone’s life.

I will leave you with this photo.  Circa 2010 Breakfast with Santa at the Village Tavern.  I think this Santa was done after our crew! Look at his face! LOL!!!!  I will never forget this day….  and of course just like they do today…..  no one looked at the camera….

I hope you have a great start to the holiday season!
