Greetings friends!  Hope your week is off to a great start.  I am constantly asked how and why I ‘fit’ in fitness on a daily basis. Fitness is just like anything else that is important to you. First you DECIDE what you are going to do. For me? It’s CrossFit.  You then SCHEDULE it on your calendar like you do everything else.  Then you COMMIT which is the hardest part for most people.  Yes, things come up and get in the way but you have to COMMIT and follow through.  I work out anywhere from 5-6 days a week with a rest day on Sundays unless my girls hiking group schedules a hike, which is typically on a Sunday every 5-6 weeks.

img_2833I love to work out – Literally, I do!  It is my happy place and sanity with 4 kids.  Most of you know I am a group fitness instructor and have been teaching since 1986.  I started in college at Kent State University. I was a jock in high school playing basketball, softball, volleyball, track & field etc.  I wouldn’t ever in a million years would have thought I would teach ‘aerobics’ being such a ‘jock’ but I fell in love with it in college.  I taught in the gym annex to over 100 people 2x/week and it was so fun! It wasn’t until 1992 that I studied and passed the AFAA (Aerobic and Fitness Association of America) which is now part of NASM.  And every 2 years since 1992 I have recertified and kept it current.  Fitness has always been a part of my life.  Fast forward 30+ years and I am still in love with any kind of fitness.  Currently I am not teaching – more on that in a different post.  Right now, CrossFit is my jam.

Every Sunday I go over my schedule for the week and I plug it in where I know it will happen. So I DECIDE, I SCHEDULE it, and I COMMIT.  Most of the time I hit the 7:30 am class but depending on what is going on it can be at 12:30pm or even 5 am!!! Yes, 5 am! And you can bet that class is hopping. But you don’t have to go to a gym every day or even go to a gym.  There is so much out there that you can do without going to a gym.  A workout can be going for a walk, a run, lifting weights at home, and really anywhere you can fit in at least 20 – 30 minutes. You don’t have to have a lot of equipment either.  On the days I cannot make it to CrossFit I hit the park and do a walk/run combo and add in some push-ups, step ups, or sit ups on a park bench. You can do workouts on your TV. Check your local cable companies, Dish, etc. They all have fitness/workout Channels/programs you can use to get any work out in.  YouTube is great too!  Just a quick search and BOOM! You will see all kinds of workouts available at your fingertips.   

There are even workout apps.  Here are a few I found after a quick search. You can literally work out anywhere and I can promise you will feel so much better and feel accomplished! If it is important to you, you will find time….   DECIDE – SCHEDULE – COMMIT!  Need help? Reach out!
