My family gives me great material to blog about…
Greetings Friends! Hope you’re having a good week! Wow! I made it to another blog post in less than 2 weeks! Aren’t you proud of me? #ihopeso Since I decided to get the blog started again #thankstothepushofmanyfriends and changed the name to Busy Fit Mom Life, I will be talking about all kinds of topics and things that relate to family, life, fitness, products, kids, and the craziness of life. Today I want to talk about Alexa and how amazing she is! My brother Frankie bought us Alexa for Christmas (I know your shocked Karl didn’t have one yet LOL!) Why do I need Alexa, Frank? Franks response – “Trust me sis – you will love Alexa!” Not that I don’t like technology, I do, but was hesitant until I asked her to turn the lights off once she was set up. Well, I was pleasantly surprised how she works and integrates with our family life and makes things easier. So we took her out of the box and set her up. I will be honest, I did not set Alexa up, Karl did, but he showed me how he did it right through the Alexa app on our iPhone’s. Pretty stinking easy! Once she is set up she is good to go! So what does Alexa do for us and how does she make our lives easier?
She turns our lights ON and OFF when we ask her… How? We have Hue lights which are connected to an app on our phones. These lights are amazing and we can change the color in different rooms of the house. The Hue light will also be a cost savings for us in the long run. Our kids are constantly leaving lights on all.the.time! Hue lights are a bit pricey up front but the Hue bulb is also designed to last for about 15,000 hours without burning out, compared to incandescent bulbs which have a lifespan of 1,500 hours. We don’t have them in every room of the house just where we frequent the most. At the end of the day I just tell Alexa to turn off all those lights for me. She turns on music through our Sonos speaker system, which is once again connected to an app on our phones. I love music #zumbainstructor and listen to music when I am working at home. If I ask her to play a certain artist or playlist, she will do it for me. If Reese wants to hear Taylor Swift all she has to do is ask Alexa to play Taylor Swift. Karl figured out that the new Sonos speaker has Alexa capabilities. Guess what I got for my birthday? A Sonos speaker with Alexa. So Alexa got moved into the living room. Can’t have too many Alexa’s. My older brother loves Alexa and has several. For more information on Sonos: https://www.sonos.com/en-us/home
- Need to add something to our grocery list? Alexa does it for us. Now if I can just get her to add those items to the Publix app on my phone that would be awesome. Need to figure that one out.
- Want to know the weather here or anywhere? Ask Alexa!
- Want to know how to do something, anything? Ask Alexa!
- Homework? Ask Alexa! LOL!! I kid! My kids haven’t figured that one out yet but I am sure they will at some point.
So many possibilities with Alexa but we are still learning! I’d love any suggestions anyone has!
But the best Alexa story is right here in this video: Don’t kill me Vito! But as I said above, my family gives me great material to blog about LOL!
